I think Odd just really likes purple. I mean, his clothes are always purple (except for his pajamas), while most of the other Lyoko warriors have a different color scheme for their avatars than their regular clothes.

Okay, I think I managed to come up with an idea regarding life points, combining Rastaba's suggestions to an extent (thank you). When a person is virtualized, their level and life points will be displayed like so. Life points won't appear again unless there is an on-screen hit, and it will only be a "-X". Maybe it can be displayed on Jeremie's monitor if I can figure out how to tilt the text because everything's on an angle for some reason.

And in case you forget how many life points a person has at any point, they will be shown in the author's note when a page shows Lyoko so it doesn't detract too much from the comic.

Life Points
Odd: 20 HP

Taylor: The virtualization was a success! Odd’s avatar lands in the forest sector and he can move it as easily as if it was his own body.
Andy: Finally! Here! I drew a picture of what it looks like.
Stein: Oh, so that’s why you wanted pen—why is Odd a purple cat?
ODD: Level 1
20 HP

Andy: Why not? He’s got cat-like reflexes that give him bonuses for Acrobatics and Athletics.
Ian: . . . why a PURPLE cat?

Are you sure you want to have that few life points? In the show it seems like their life points start at 100. You could have the lasers do one point instead of the show's 10 points.

Since this is Code Lyoko crossed with D&D, I wanted to show that the characters get more powerful and durable with each level. They'll gain more life points as the comic goes on.

The show was mega inconsistent with life point loss anyway with some dying from two or three shots from bloks or hornets, who are only slightly more powerful than kankrelats.

I always thought Odd's Lyoko Avatar was based on a monkey. Sun Wu Kong, specifically, and that the three of them were parallels to the three 'escorts' in "Journey to the West".

Nope, it's specifically a cat. He gets cat ears later on, even.

Heck, even his jumping ability in the Code Lyoko game(s?) is called "Cat Jump."
