I don't want to rely too much on my usual six-panel layout, and there was quite a bit I wanted to say on this page, so this is quite a busy page. I hope it's still readable.

I like how I sometimes put Madeline's speech bubble deep in the corner like she's trying to keep herself from being noticed. I do want to experiment on having the speech bubbles change based on who it is and how they're feeling. I debated on making the bubble borders much bolder if things get heated, like how DeadpanSal changes the colors of the characters from pastel to brighter, darker, or bolder so you can practically feel that person's words having more force behind them. I wonder if it would be noticeable though.

There are also other things I want to try for the speech bubbles, but I won't reveal them yet. Maybe you'll notice them. But for now, what do you think of bolder edges for when a character gets really mad or intense? Or would that be taking too much from DeadpanSal?

Rachel: Alright, we'll wait until your grade has gone to the swimming pool. Are you helping me search, Stein?
Stein: Well, uh, I guess so, sure. This does require immediate attention.
Rachel: You wanted to work on Aelita's materialization, huh?
Stein: Uh, was it that obvious?
Rachel: Yes.
Andy: Pretty much.
Taylor: I expected it, really.
Stein: Well, that is the main quest. Bringing Aelita to Earth.
Stein: But making sure she doesn't get discovered and shut down is even more important right now.
Andy: Aww, you want to save the princess, too!
Stein: Andy! Shut up!
Madeline: . . .
Ian: Well, you better have a good excuse for skipping, otherwise Jim won't be happy. Nice picture or not.
Andy (Odd): Hey, Jim? Jeremie's out sick.
Ian (Jim): Wha? Where's his excuse note?
Andy (Odd): He just texted me. Right, Ulrich?
Eric (Ulrich): Yeah. Sure.
Ian (Jim): Grrr. Don't think you can avoid me for long, Belpois.
Stein: I'll keep that in mind.

I still find your choice to make Jim a PC an odd one. I would have pegged him for a major NPC more than anything else- like a captain of the guard would be in a more fantasy setting- not quite an opponent, but someone that the party is still at odds with occasionally.

That's fair. Ian was originally going to be the new guy come season 2, but then I remembered that William and Jim were voiced by the same person, David Gasman, so I figured it would be a nice reference.

Jim also does some really cool stuff later on, but I probably didn't think it all the way through.

I thought it a bit odd at first, but given the setup with Madeline, it tracks. Ian seems to be an old friend of the GM who's willing to take a backseat/low-key role in order to run comms for Madeline: after all, it's be pretty hard to do that while also playing a spotlight character.

To tell you the truth, Ian and Taylor are not old friends. Their relationship is mainly a gamer getting help from a more experienced one. But you are right, Ian would love to play a spotlight character, but he's certainly willing to back down to help the current GM and players. Mostly.
